Saddle Mountain Hostel, Invergarry

Look at all the things you can do starting at the front door of Saddle Mountain Hostel.

  • Stroll along the many paths in Glengarry Forest – follow the River Garry, hike up to see the Allt na Calliche waterfall.
  • Walk or cycle up to the lookout point on the Invergarry Link. At its highest point, your efforts are rewarded with fine views of the Great Glen.
  • Head up to Loch Lundie, above the village, for more great views.
  • Do a circuit of Loch Oich and see the historic Bridge of Oich suspension bridge on the way – follow the Invergarry Link north or south from the hostel and join up with the Great Glen Way to get all the way round.
  • Climb our local hill, Ben Tee. At 904 metres high it’s one of Scotland’s Corbetts.
  • Try the Glen Garry walks.
  • Watch a game of shinty – Glengarry Shinty Club play in the village.
  • Visit our local castle, Invergarry Castle, a 17th Century ruin on the shores of Loch Oich.
  • Discover the history of the area at the Glengarry Heritage Centre in the Glengarry Community Hall in the village.
  • Take afternoon tea and cakes at the Glengarry Castle Hotel.
  • Order a meal at the Invergarry Hotel.
  • Go fishing on the river or lochs. Try Loch Garry Fishing for boat hire, fishing tackle hire, guiding and tuition.
  • Watch a motorcycle trial. The Scottish Six Day Trials take place every May in the Fort William and Lochaber area, and sometimes comes to Glengarry Forest.
