Greetings from the south coast of England

In time honoured fashion our postcard from our recent holiday to the south coast of England arrives a couple of weeks after we were actually there!  However as it comes from England whose patron saint’s day is celebrated today I think its arrival is perfect timing.

We were invited to spend a few days with our friends in Seaton on the south Devon coast. It seemed like the ideal opportunity to get away from it all before the Easter weekend and our peak season. Although driving to the south coast of England from Invergarry is a pretty epic journey as it’s over 550 miles away it was worth it!

I spent many summer holidays in Devon as a child but the area around Seaton and over into Dorset was new territory for me. As you know we do like a long distance path and we were happy to spend our time exploring the South West Coast Path. It’s 630 miles in total so we barely scratched the surface with three short walks but it’s easy to see how people get hooked if the beautiful beaches and cliff top walking we experienced are anything to go by. The only things missing were our buckets and spades to make the most of the sunny English seaside.

Thanks to our friends (you know who you are) for looking after us, feeding us and their great taxi service!

Happy St George’s Day!
